TFD Responds to Two Structure Fires, Helps Two People and a Dog to Safety

On February 18, at 8:48 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a structure fire located in the 800 block of Arkansas Street. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire coming from a multi-residential structure. TFD personnel made entry into the structure to extinguish the fire and search for any possible occupants. TFD crews were able to assist two people and one dog out of the structure to safety. There were no injuries reported on scene. The cause of the fire appears to have been from unattended cooking.

TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and the City of Tallahassee Utilities. The Red Cross was called to assist the residents.

In a separate incident, and hours earlier at 12:32 a.m., TFD responded to a possible structure fire located in the 6000 block of Sue Page Drive. TFD crews arrived on scene and found heavy fire coming from a large shed and RV. TFD personnel quickly had the fire under control while protecting the surrounding area. There were no injuries reported on scene. The cause of the fire appears to have been from unattended cooking.

TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS and Talquin Electric Cooperative.
